fairy ring

There's a fairy ring on my back lawn! That's a first. Wikipedia knows all about them -  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairy_ring . Mine is not quite as perfect as some best example photos however it's pretty obvious when you wander down the back - holy moly a circle of mushrooms!
Haven't seen any faires yet though, will keep an eye out.

the happy couple

I was challenged by being the Mother of the Bride and therefore not taking photos. It just didn't feel like that correct thing to be doing on the day. But it is now a week since the wedding and I am reduced to stealing other people's photos off Facebook. And as most people understand the protocol of not posting photos of a bride until after she does, there are not many.  However there will be hundreds of photos eventually from the two talented photographers who documented the day. In the meantime. here are my 'stolen goods'.

the day dawned fine

It was such a relief when Saturday 13th April dawned fine and sunny - Sonya and Toby's wedding day. So much work was done the day before by an amazing crew of family and friends -

dorm rooms allocated...
Toby's posters hung...
metres of fairy lights were unravelled...
And on the day, the bunting was hung,
and the hydrangeas placed perfectly.

All we need now is a bride and groom.

a sewing project

Surprise surprise, my first job on Sonya's wedding day was a sewing project. There's always a sewing project where Sonya's involved. This time it was a purse to carry all those little things a bride might need.

blue flowers

It's been a great summer for blue flowers in my garden. Some continue to bloom. I have to remember to take the time each day to enjoy them.

smashing raspberries

Did you know that, according to Google (how would we live without Google?), there are approximately 720,000 seeds in 18 kilograms of raspberries? And I removed every one of those seeds by hand. I never thought I would ever say that I have had my fill of raspberries. Raspberry coulis - tick.

a wedding is nice

My daughter Sonya's wedding is imminent - she is marrying her long time partner Toby. A wedding is a nice way to bring family and friends together. The cake is made, the serviettes are being sewn almost as I write and the dressmakers are busy stitching. Not long now...
