Squares

Nice big 10" squares are easy to cut out.
Gave up on the crochet and cut out the squares for the raggy quilt.
Lately I seem to be very good at buying the stuff, but now I  have to do the making.
The baby is half way made and blanketless!

I can't knit!

But apparently I can crochet?
There has been a request for a crochet peggy square blanket. Like the 752 on Etsy.
Mum loaned me the how to book and the hook.
I bought wool - very expensive stuff.
I watched the lady on YouTube...replay...replay... (she makes it look easy)
Then I went back to mum's for a lesson.
I have spent all afternoon practising!
Crochet is not easy.

I forgot Arrowtown!

Visited Arrowtown on a glorious autumn day.

Raggy quilt

These are the flannel fabrics to make a raggy quilt - for a baby due in September.
I hope they pass the pending parents test for suitable colours and patterns for OUR baby.
But...I cannot criticize as I well remember my own aversion to baby blue and pink.

Feijoa Jam

This has been the summer for jam making. Started with plums as I have a mega plum tree - it is so easy to make with this new jam sugar you can buy, but plum jam is a bit ho hum. Then Sonya and I made rhubarb and ginger jam which was anything but ho hum. This weekend I made feijoa jam - again - the first time it was so delicious! I've made 9 more jars so there's plenty to go around. I'll take some to the Netherlands with me when I go - for Sonya.

Indian Summer

It has been an amazing summer. It's the middle of May and still mild but apparently the southerlies are on their way. We can't complain, in fact I'm almost looking forward to some cold.

Living dangerously

Sixth trip to Queenstown and I'd never been to Milford Sound so decided to do it the dangerous but spectacular way - fly across the southern alps in a single engine plane followed by a cruise on the Sound. No words to describe it.

Queenstown

Went to the New Zealand quilt symposium in Queenstown during the April holidays. It kindly snowed the night before we arrived. Early each morning and on dusk, the paragliders jump off the cliff above the town and land in the school field. Magical.

I'm going to be an Oma!

The big news of the summer! I'm going to be an Oma. Sonya and Toby are expecting a baby around the 20 September. Where will it be born - Netherlands for New Zealand?
I am developing grandmother tendencies - looking at knitting patterns, taking an interest in baby shops and best of all, have an excuse to buy children's books!

Rose's Wedding

We had a family wedding. Rose was married to Karsten by Heidi.  First ceremony was in the middle east somewhere - this is the kiwi version. Someone bought along some Oma roses.

Negligent Blogger!

It's been nearly 4 months. I have been a negligent blogger.
Life got complicated. But it's all good, getting a new laptop sorted, finding my photos.
Will do some speed blogging to catch up.
